# How does xiangqi compare to Stratego and other hidden-information games?

## Why this makes them different kinds of game entirely

Xiangqi's whole challenge is calculation over a fully known position, there is nothing to deduce about what a piece is, only about what the best sequence of moves does with the information both players already share equally. Stratego adds a psychological, information-management layer that has no counterpart in xiangqi at all.

## The surface similarity that can mislead

Both are two-player strategy games with an army of pieces and a goal tied to a specific high-value piece, which can make them look related from a distance. The actual skills involved, calculation under perfect information versus probabilistic reasoning under hidden information, barely overlap.
