What you will have to rebuild is **line intuition**, because the cannon inverts everything chess taught you about open lines. ## What transfers Pins, forks, discovered attacks, the value of the initiative, counting attackers and defenders, and the discipline of checking your opponent's threats. All of it works identically. A strong chess player is a decent xiangqi player within weeks. ## What does not The cannon, above all — an open line carries no attack, and blocking one can create a threat.
