# What's the difference between an opening 'system' and a one-off 'trap' line?

## What makes a system worth the investment

A genuine system, such as Screen Horses or 飛相局, produces a reasonable position whether or not the opponent has ever seen it before, because it is built on sound development and real threats rather than on a specific mistake. ## Why traps are a poor foundation on their own
