Games are very often decided by exactly this: one side's chariots arrive and the other's never do. ## Why it is worse than it looks Material counts do not show idle pieces. A player with equal material but one undeveloped chariot is not equal at all, because the opponent is effectively attacking with an extra piece that will never be met. ## The fix is almost always the same Find the piece standing on the file you want and move it, even if the move looks unambitious.
