How do I get better at xiangqi tactics?

Puzzles, in volume. Tactics are pattern recognition, so repetition works in a way it does not for openings — and the feedback is immediate. Alongside that, build two mechanical habits: count the pieces on every cannon line, and check every horse's legs before you count its moves.
Why volume works here
You are training recognition, not understanding. The aim is to see 馬後炮 the way you see a familiar face — instantly and without reasoning. That only comes from seeing it many times, which is what puzzles supply efficiently.
This is the exception to the usual advice about reviewing more than you play.
The two habits
Almost all missed tactics in xiangqi come from one of two things: a cannon threat that appeared because a screen arrived, or a horse move you assumed was available and was not. Two seconds per cannon and per horse, every move, catches most of them.
